Student Chapter News

May, 2016

With our final projects in, and our final exams written, we finally have the opportunity to look back over a busy year in the SCOM and Purchasing programs. We’ve welcomed new students to this exciting field, have worked our way closer to our goals, and are wishing our best to our friends who are moving on to their new careers. To all graduates, the ASC offers you our congratulations and hopes that you’ll stay in touch!

In a year full of exciting APICS Student Chapter events, a couple stand out as especially worthy of mention: a fantastic tour of the Tigercat facility put together by our Programs directors Aaron Brock and Adam Snyder, as well as a fun and lively Wine and Cheese that capped off the year for us. Our thanks go out once again to the Cambridge Hotel and Conference Centre for providing us with a perfect venue, and to our guest speakers: Alexandra Villemaire and Heather Walker.

The ASC would like to extend its thanks to the Program faculty for their support during the year. Without their help neither the ASC nor APICS would have managed to attain the visibility they did. Warm thanks are also due to the Board of Directors of our parent chapter, Ontario Grand Valley, for their guidance, support, mentorship, and most of all, for giving us the tools we needed as students to take ownership of our own organization and do everything we could in order to deliver maximum benefit to our members.

As president, I would also like to individually thank every member of this year’s board. You were all an absolute pleasure to work with and to learn with, and this is a year I certainly won’t forget. My sincerest thanks to Karen Clements, Aaron Brock, Julie Arnold, Adam Snyder, Fiona McIntyre, Lauren Boutilier, Devon Hewitt, Jenny Ung, Becky Sonbouttaseng, and Ernesto Soza. Some of these names will gain even greater stature in the coming year as they take charge of the ASC board, others we are wishing our best as they move on to other pursuits.

It’s with great pleasure that I welcome into the position of ASC President Julie Arnold. It’s with the greatest confidence and pride that I watch her step into a role that she is sure to excel in.

Thanks to the whole student body and to all ASC members for a fantastic year. It’s been a delight to work with all of you, and I wish you all a wonderful summer!
